We extend a very warm welcome to all of our Messy Church families! Messy Church is a form of church for both young children and their families, that promotes faith formation through creative experiences, liturgical celebration, and hospitality.
It is primarily for those children and families who are not necessarily regular attendees of our Parish Masses and church gatherings. It is an opportunity for those not presently connected with the Catholic Faith, as well as those of other denominations, to gain a greater understanding of God’s joyful message. Messy Church uses hands-on, family-oriented craft experiences to explore Bible stories and their meanings, to reflect God’s creativity through our hands, and to give everyone time to hang-out, pray and have dinner together.
Messy Church is an all-age fresh expression of church that offers counter-cultural transformation of family life through families coming together to be, to make, to eat, and to celebrate God.
Messy Church begins in the Hall at 4.30pm with a wide range of fun (and messy!) activities including cooking, craft, games and free play. Activities last about an hour before heading to the Church for ‘Together Time’ where we learn about God through stories and songs – for about half an hour. We finish back in the Hall with a simple meal together. Messy Church finishes around 6:30pm. To help cover the cost of food and craft materials the cost is $5/person or $15/family, with a gold coin donation for seniors.
Registration forms are available in the School Newsletter, from the School and Parish offices, and from the Narthex of the Church. We look forward to seeing you there!
Messy Church is held at St Paul’s, beginning in the Hall, and runs from 4.30 – 6.30pm
The dates and themes for 2018 are:
